Yes, Ive been running the numbers too, I will not likely add more PCI tuners, 3 are enough. If you check a prev post I made, Im gonna add a PCI-e Dual DVB-S2(NetUP) card when its left the production line. That should suffice tuner wise. =)
With that setup I should have enough bw to spare for the secondary array, this is mostly a backup array so it does its nightly, and then dormant. The mobo as such has been rock solid, not a single glitch/issue for the soon 3 days its been up.

be very carefull that you do not run out of PCI bandwidth with 6 PCI slots.

If you also plan on running SATA across the same PCI bus you might be stressing it too much.

6 DVB-C cards with QAM256 at 8Mhz is already 8*54Mbit = 432 Mbit so that is already eating almost half of your PCI bandwidth. If you add a SATA card then you might even saturate it completly. And then let's hope there are no other motherboard components attached to that same PCI bus.

If you need to get more storage then I would suggest adding a PCI-e SATA card in that single PCI-e slot. You do not need VGA anyway in this server.

As I said in the post, since multiproto is "dead" and S2API is the chosen API(5) in v4l-dvb, Im holding out till they settle their indifferences.

Not sure if you mean patch or actually path, if its the first, then yes, for now, a patch is needed.

Ps3 is not worth it right now imo, for me personnally i would go for the xbox360 since the firmware can be adapted so you can use 'liberated' games ;)

If ps3 drops in price and there are more ps3 only games out i might consider it but not now.

From what Ive read from the studios, PS3 is likely to win this console war. Reasons are:
1) Sony has been providing equipment and information for the studios without hesitation, while MS has been very relutant to provide anything.
2) Sony has a better cpu-arrangment
3) PS3 is much more quiet. Scoring higher on the acceptant-factor.
4) You can connect PS3 to wifi without adding anymore hw.
5) Sonys new virtual world which works like a minisims.
6) Slimmer power adaptor, again PS3 score on the acceptant-factor.
